Please note: Some changes may have been made to the Time Savers Add-in for PowerPoint since the making of this video.

The “Tiles” group is part of the “TS Create” tab (previously called “Time Savers 2”) of the Time Savers Add-in for PowerPoint.

The tools in this part of the Time Savers Add-in make it possible for you to:

  • Quickly and easily add custom number, letter and word tiles to your resource.

List separator:

randomizer input1
  • Fill in the character you would like to use as a list separator.
  • The default is a comma (,)
  • Changing the list separator to a different character allows you to have content that includes commas if needed.

Range indicator:

randomizer input2
  • Fill in the character you would like to use to indicate a range.
  • The default is a hyphen (-)
  • Changing the range indicator to a different character allows you to have content that includes hyphens (or minus signs) if needed.

Content input field:

randomizer input3

Fill in the content you want the tile creator to use.

  • You can use a mix of numbers, letters, words etc.
  • You can separate items in the list with a comma, or your chosen list separator.
  • Do not include unnecessary spaces when typing in your content.
  • You can also use number or letter ranges, using the format: min-max with your chosen range indicator.
    • Letter range format:
      • Example: a-h or A-H
      • The case you use (uppercase or lowercase) when indicating the range is the case that will be used by the tile creator.
    • Number range format:
      • Example: 2s 10-58
      • In this example, numbers will be used from 10 to 58, counting by 2s.
      • If you only fill in a number range, then the default counting interval is counting by 1s.
      • If you fill in a skip counting interval (e.g. ‘2s’) without a number range, then the first 10 multiples will be used.
  • You can also include a combination of input types if you wish:
    • Example: 2s 3-20,a-h,cat,dog,mouse,3s
  • If your content is long and involved, you may prefer to type it into a textbox and then copy and paste it into the content input field. This will make it easier for you to make changes to the content if necessary.

Create:

Tiles
  • If you wish to create generic tiles, simply click the ‘Create’ button and your tiles with your chosen content will be inserted automatically. You will then be free to format the tiles once they have been created to suit your needs.
  • If you wish to create tiles using specific shapes or pictures, select the shapes/pictures before clicking the ‘Create’ button. When the tiles are created, the shapes/pictures you have selected will be used as the base for each tile, in the order in which you selected them. If you selected fewer shapes/pictures than needed for all the tiles, they will be duplicated in a recurring pattern until all the tiles have been created.
