How to Use the "Resize Selected Shapes" Group of the Time Savers Add-in for PowerPoint
Please note: Some changes may have been made to the Time Savers Add-in for PowerPoint since the making of this video.
The “Resize Selected Shapes” group is part of the “TS Shapes” tab (previously part of the “TS Design” tab, formerly called “Time Savers 1”) of the Time Savers Add-in for PowerPoint.
The tools in this part of the Time Savers Add-in make it possible for you to:
- Quickly resize shapes, scaling font at the same time.
- Resize shapes and tables all together as though they were grouped.
- Resize shapes to match the size of a reference shape or the slide.
General:
- If shapes have text, the text is scaled appropriately. Please note: text scaling does not apply to charts.
- Remember: shapes can include anything that can be placed on a slide (shape/picture/table/chart etc.).
- Shapes and tables can all be resized together (which is not normally possible in PowerPoint, as you cannot group tables with anything else).
Scale shapes up or down:
- Shapes are resized from the center.
- Shapes can be scaled separately
- Each selected shape is resized individually, from its center.
- Shapes can be scaled together
- Selected shapes are all resized together as a unit, from the center of the whole group.
- Scale up by 10%
- Scale down by 10%
- Scale up by 2%
- Scale down by 2%
Resize shapes to match the size of a reference shape:
- The shape selected first will be the reference shape. All other shapes will be resized based on the size of the reference shape.
- Resize shapes separately
- All selected shapes will be resized individually to match the width/height/width and height of the shape selected first.
- Scale shapes together
- All selected shapes (except the shape selected first, the ‘reference’ shape) will be resized together as a unit to match the width/height/width and height of the shape selected first.
- Match shape width
- Match shape height
- Match shape width and height
Resizing shapes to match the size of the slide:
- All shapes will be resized based on the size of the slide.
- Resize shapes separately
- All selected shapes will be resized individually to match the width/ height/ width and height of the slide.
- Scale shapes together
- All selected shapes will be resized together as a unit to match the width/ height/ width and height of the slide.
- Match slide width
- Match slide height
- Match slide width and height
Settings for matching the size of shapes or slides:
- Keep aspect ratio
- When selected, shapes will be scaled to match the size of the reference shape or slide, maintaining the aspect ratio.
- When not selected, shapes will be stretched to match the size of the reference shape or slide. Please note that this could cause tables to not resize properly (if the text ends up too large for the cells).
- Size from center
- When selected, shapes will be resized from the center.
- When not selected, shapes will be resized from the top left corner.
- Scale text
- When selected, text will be scaled up or down with the shape based on the change in the width of the shape.
- When not selected, text will not be scaled with the shape. Please note that this could cause tables to not resize properly (if the text ends up too large for the cells).
