Please note: Some changes may have been made to the Time Savers Add-in for PowerPoint since the making of this video.

The “Export Slides” group is part of the “TS Publish” tab (previously called “Time Savers 3”) of the Time Savers Add-in for PowerPoint.

The tools in this part of the Time Savers Add-in make it possible for you to:

  • Quickly and easily export specific slides as images at your chosen resolution.

Image file type options:

export slides dropdown1
  • Choose between PNG and JPG.

Name:

Name@8x
  • You will be asked to fill in the name you wish to give to the selected slides.
  • If you have selected more than one slide, all selected slides will be given the same name.

Export:

Export Slides
  • Select the slides you wish to export as images and click the ‘Export’ button.
  • A message will appear asking you to fill in the resolution at which you wish to export the slides.
    • There will be a default number filled in. With some older versions of PowerPoint, there is a limit to the image size you can export (maximum of 3000 px). The default resolution is calculated to allow you to export your slides at the maximum size possible, while still keeping the size under 3000 px.
    • You can try using a number greater than the default if you wish. Depending on your version of PowerPoint, higher resolutions may work fine.
    • If there is a problem with exporting at a higher resolution, you can simply use the default resolution.
  • A second message will appear letting you know that a new folder will be created and asking you to fill in the name you wish to give this new folder.
    • If you are on a PC, the new folder will be created inside the folder containing the file you are working on.
      • It is advisable to save your presentation before your exporting slides as images, so that you know where the new folder will be created.
      • If you have not already saved your presentation, the new folder may be created in your C Drive, or whichever drive in which you primarily work – you may need to search for it.
    • If you are on a Mac, the new folder will be created inside the sandboxed Office folder.
      • Be sure to give the folder a unique name – this will make finding it easier.
      • Open a Finder window and search for the name of the folder that was created for your images.
      • Once you have found the folder, you can copy and paste the images to a different location on your computer if desired, and delete the folder.
  • If you have named the slides you are exporting, the image files will be given your chosen names.
  • If any of the slides have been given the same name, they will be numbered in order to avoid the files overwriting one another.
  • If you have not named the slides, they will be given generic names.
