How to Use the "Create in Bulk" Group of the Time Savers Add-in for PowerPoint
Please note: Some changes may have been made to the Time Savers Add-in for PowerPoint since the making of this video.
The “Mazes” group is part of the “TS Create” tab of the Time Savers Add-in for PowerPoint.
The tools in this part of the Time Savers Add-in make it possible for you to:
- Bulk create activities and worksheets quickly and easily.
Data:
- Insert a data table on the current slide for adding all your content.
- You will add all your content to this data table (both text and shapes/pictures are allowed).
- You can change the column headings to suit your content.
- Add pictures or shapes to a column of your data table.
- A window will pop up for you to select which column you want to add your objects to.
- If you have shapes selected already, those shapes will be inserted into your chosen column in the data table.
- If you haven’t selected any shapes, you a window will open for you to find and insert pictures that you wish to place in your table.
- If any of the shapes/pictures you’re adding to the table has a file name saved:
- You will be asked if you wish to insert those file names as text items in another column.
- If you choose yes, a new window will pop up for you to choose which column you want to add the names to.
Placeholders:
- Create your template by adding placeholders that will be used to tell the add-in where to insert your data.
- You can select text or shapes and insert placeholders.
- A window will pop up, asking what data set (column) you wish to insert a placeholder for.
- If you select text, you will only be allowed to choose a column containing text.
- If you select a picture, you will only be allowed to choose a column containing objects.
- If you select a shape that can hold text, you will be allowed to choose a column containing either text or a picture.
- Please note: any pre-existing text in the shape will be replaced, so only do this if the only text in the shape is the text you wish to replace with your data.
- If you wish to add a placeholder for an individual word in a sentence, you need to select that word specifically, not the entire shape.
- Note: Your template can be multiple pages.
- The data table MUST be on the first slide of the template.
- Only slides after the slide containing the data table will be considered when the add-in determines which slides are part of your template.
- You can mark the selected placeholders as ‘Next record’ so that the add-in will know that you want to use the next record from that data set in the same template.
- Each time you click the ‘Next Record’ button with a particular placeholder selected, the record number will increase by 1.
Bulk Create:
- Once you have added all your data and all your placeholders and you are happy with the design of your template, you can click the ‘Bulk Create’ button.
- Copies of your template will be made, and all placeholders will be replaced with the data in your table.
